To the left, a twisted path beneath gnarled trees, where a ghostly fog coils low.

To the right, a sunlit glade, the air rich with the scent of wildflowers.

Weary from your travels, you decide to rest awhile at the local tavern. Perhaps the barkeep can point you to some locals who might be keen for adventure.

Barkeep: “A lone wolf fares poorly in these parts. If you’re to find companions, mind what you lack.

A keen scout? A sturdy shieldbearer? A mind sharp in the mysteries of old magic?”

Upon further reflection, you realize you will need more than muscle alone to complete your quest. You head for the bazaar district, and duck inside the mercantile shop.

Shopkeep: “Hmph. Ill-prepared you’ll be without proper gear.

Be you a spellcaster in need of charms to enact foul sorceries, a warrior in want of bladed weapons to cleave the dark, a paladin looking for tomes and spells to ward away injury, or a ranger keen of eye yet absent a bow and arrow?”

As you leave the shop, you notice a sign before you. It reads:

“Brave souls sought! Danger assured, riches promised. Seek the Guildmaster within the town square to claim your cause… if you dare.”

After some deliberation, you conclude that the Barkeep was right, and some companionship would surely make your adventure more enjoyable and fruitful.

The other, a moon, cold and secretive. The door is made of solid stone, and refuses to budge without the assistance of your companions.

The door opens, and your eyes blink as they are hit with sudden, unexpected daylight. The door has led outside, to a bridge path guarded by a Sphinx.
